Knowing Jesus

I Touch Your Arm (from God Calling)

Yes!  When you are quiet before Me I lay My Hand upon each head, and Divine Spirit flows through that healing, powerful Touch into your very beings. Wait in silence before Me to feel that.

When you look to Me for guidance My Hand is laid upon your arm, a gentle Touch to point the way. When in mental, physical, or spiritual weakness you cry to Me for healing, My Touch brings Strength and Healing, the renewal of your youth, the power to climb and strive.

When you faint by the way, and stumbling footsteps show human strength is waning, My Touch of the Strong and Helping Hand supports you on your Way.

Yes! My Children, My touch has still its ancient Power and that Power is promised to you. So go forward into the future bravely and unafraid.

And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment; and as many as touched were made perfectly whole. Matthew 14:36

From the book, GOD CALLING, email devotional from www.twolisteners.org  Click the link and you can sign up for the daily devotional.

The story behind this book is that in the 1930’s, two elderly women met each evening…wait, here’s a snippet from the story recorded at www.twolisteners.org/TheStory.htm

“Two poor, brave women were courageously fighting against sickness and penury. They were facing a hopeless future and one of them even longed to be quit of this hard world for good. And then He spoke. And spoke again!

Day after day He comes and cheers them. And though they still have their sorrows, they have joy and a new courage. For He inspires them with His promises for their future when His loving purpose shall be revealed; and He gently rallies them on their unbelief; as He did their forlorn predecessors during that walk to Emmaus.”

I had read their book for a couple years and longed that I might hear from Jesus in this same way.  He responds when we are longing for more of Him…and I heard from Him.  It was not an audible voice, but I heard it in my spirit like a conversation in my thoughts.  I started writing what He spoke to me, some of which I’ve posted (The Great Exchange, The Potter’s Wheel, Blessings from the Thorny Path, At the Hand of Suffering).  As I look back at what He gives me, I know it is not from my own mind….and He speaks such words of love!  We just cannot begin to grasp the extent of a very personal relationship we can have with Jesus!

I share what He has given me in hopes that it might encourage someone else, as well as to encourage you to develop your own relationship with Jesus. Do you know Jesus?  Have you given Him your life and received the free gift He’s offered to you?  We have all sinned and can never remove that blemish from our hearts, and sin is what makes us unfit for Heaven—it has broken our relationship with God and He wants to restore that relationship so that we might be with Him for eternity, sharing in the joy and wonder of Heaven, and the delight of being with Him.  He made us to fellowship with Him, and He greatly desires this relationship with us, so much so that He was willing to sacrifice His Son for us!  He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world as a baby, completely human, to live as a man—yet He never sinned. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Jesus did many miracles (as an example for all believers, who, by the power of the same Holy Spirit, are to do the same things Jesus did). But in spite of all the people who were healed, in spite of all the miracles, He was falsely accused, unjustly tried, beaten and tortured, and crucified on the cross… a death sentence reserved for the worst of criminals….and Jesus took this willingly, loving even those who were beating Him, crying out, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

But this was the Father’s plan: a Perfect Sacrifice to cover my sins.  According to Jewish law, a perfect lamb had to be slain once a year to cover the sins committed that year.  Now, the Lamb of God was slain, the perfect Lamb Who had never sinned, Who was pure and spotless, slain for the sins of all mankind for all time.  Why would He do this?  Why would God the Father sacrifice His only Son?  Why would He allow Him to be falsely accused and killed so brutally?  Because of LOVE.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnP4gb828Hk

Because of Love Jesus died, willingly, so I would never have to take the punishment of my sins (which would bring me eternal separation from God).  He loved us while we were still sinners, and He wanted to make a way that we could be washed clean from our sin, and be restored to a relationship with Him.  So what do I do to be saved and receive Jesus?  Romans 10:9 says, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

I admit that I know I am a sinner and I want to turn away from my sin,  I say YES to Jesus, (Jesus, I want You to save me, I accept You as my Savior, I know that Your death on the cross was for me, and I receive that.  I trust You with my life. Please be my Lord, I will live for you.  I want to know You.  I want to have a relationship with You.  Thank You for dying for me; thank You for loving me; I love You, Jesus!)

Jesus rose from the grave on the third day, and ascended to Heaven where He sits at God the Father’s right hand and forever intercedes for you and me!  He is constantly defending me as Satan comes to accuse me to God!  He claims me as His Own!

The Bible says Jesus chose to suffer because of the “joy set before Him”, because He could see the day when He would receive the reward for His suffering…and that reward is you, me…every person who receives Him as their Savior… we are restored as sons and daughters of God! And we will be with Him forever and ever…for eternity!  There is coming a day, perhaps soon, when He is going to be reunited with His beloved ones (us!!)…we are His bride…we will marry the Lamb!  Did you know of this wedding day?!  We will never be apart again!!  We will be with Him forever!!  I can’t wait!

The Refiner’s Fire

The Refiner’s Fire

(this was written by someone else, but it’s always touched my heart!)

Malachi 3:3 says, “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.”

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what the statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to

the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work.  She didn’t mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up.  He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about god holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says, “He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.”

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire.  If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment.  Then she asked the silversmith, “How do you know when the silver is fully refined?”

He smiled at her and answered, “Oh, that’s easy—when I see my image in it.”

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you  and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.  (Author unknown).

At the Hand of Suffering

At the Hand of Suffering

God has shown me two important purposes for pain in life…the most important is falling in love with Jesus–the One Who loves us and forgives us when no one else will…and secondly, we have opportunities to share the comfort He gives us with others.  That’s my purpose in this blog….to share the comfort and love that Jesus has given to me.

There’s a sweetness

Known only in My presence

When driven to your knees

At the hand of suffering.

Come find rest

Come find peace

Come find solace until

You find the Joy.

Joy will come

Joy will flow

Outpouring, washing

Grace brings the Joy.

Then you, the washed,

Will wash

You will pour

You’ll restore,

I through you

I in you

Together you and I

Will heal.

There’s no limit

To the power

That will flow

By My hand.

Just draw close

Breathe in new life

See not with eyes

Of self but faith;

There’s no limit

To the grace

That will flow

By Me through you.

As you yield,

I restore;

As you yield,

I will pour.

Death to self

Means life in Me

I’ll raise you up

Free indeed.

Your freedom speaks

Your freedom sings

Your freedom to

Others brings

A hope and joy

That reflects Me

In you they’ve seen

Suffering

But suffering yields

Its own reward–

A Rest, in Me,

Your living Lord,

Alive in you

Raising you up

To walk with hope

New life to bring

Passing through

The fiery trials

New life to grow

Recreated by My love.

Hold to Me when all is drear

Your loving Father’s ever near

No fear or dread

All worries shed

I hold you close

And keep you safe,

My precious child

Whom love’s restored

No fear.  No dread.

Walk, instead.

The grace flows down

The grace flows out

You fill up

and pour it out

The spiggot’s on –

Don’t miss the flow.

Blessings from the Thorny Path

There are things too wonderful for you to know them now, My beloved, but  trust Me, love Me, seek Me, walk with Me, and the path shall be unfolded before you; the gifts I have for you shall be poured out beyond your wildest imagination.  You have often felt unworthy.  I, My child, see you through  eyes of love and such utter acceptance.  You are beautiful to Me, You bring Me much joy. Continue on; with Me you will not be disappointed.  Love as I love, give as I give, ask and it shall be given to you as you have faith to receive.  I love you, My daughter.

rockypathThe way has been tumultuous, but were it not for the rocky path and thorny way you would not have pressed in to Me with such pressure.  My strength has been yours from that pressing touch. When the path is smooth and the way beautiful and pristine, it is easy for you to be distracted by the pleasures around you.  It is the turbulent way that has pressed you to My side and how I joy to feel you there.  Now when you come to the glade, you won’t want to stray far from My side, will you, My love?  I long for the pressing touch of My children and it is My joy to fulfill all you need.  So, ask, in My name, that the Father may grant what you ask.

“What pleasure fills those who live every day in your temple, enjoying you as they worship in your presence! Pause in his presence How enriched are they who find their strength in the Lord; within their hearts are the highways of holiness! Even when their paths wind through the dark valley of tears, they dig deep to find a pleasant pool where others find only pain. He gives to them a brook of blessing filled from the rain of an outpouring.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭84‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The Potter’s Wheel

At a time of intense sorrow, God spoke this to me in the middle of the night and I scribbled it down in the dark:

Embrace the cross…

Embrace the death knell to self…

The risen life cannot be, without first the death.

Yieldedness—not resignation, fully embracing the

bitter cup I ask of you to drink…

Obedience with joy  …

Joy that you’ve heard My voice and responded.

There is no other way to victory and peace.

To pursue peace is to seek My cross—

You are the clay on My potter’s wheel…

Remain pliable.

The hardened lump must be softened by pressure and heat…….the warmth of my hands.

…the greater the fury of your storm, the more sure solid embrace of My hands interlocked around you.  The pressure and heat of the trials that will transform you is not caused by those trials, but rather, from My secure and strong shelter hands shaping you, My clay, upon My potter’s wheel.  It is not the spinning of the wheel that causes the heat, but rather, the pressure of My hands.  Rejoice in your storm.  You are being transformed.

THE GREAT EXCHANGE

I was grieving in my heart, knowing how much emotional pain my son was still feeling over the divorce a few years ago, feeling responsible for his pain.  It was as though I needed to feel this pain, and carry this burden, because I felt responsible for it, and if I ever got to the point of not feeling pained by it, I was worried that I would become hard-hearted, and I didn’t want that, ever.

With these thoughts, a gnawing ache gripped my insides, until I heard my Jesus speaking to my spirit, “That’s why I died– to bear this burden for you.”

It was 12:35 a.m.  I asked, “Will You please wait a minute so I can get my journal?” and I flicked on the bedside lamp and grabbed my journal and pen.

Then He resumed, “Stay pressing into Me.  My love will saturate you; there will be no room for hard-heartedness to set in!  My love will flow from you.  You will be better able to accomplish My will in prayer as you are fasting and praying from this position of dependence on Me.  Dependence on Me to take care of (my sons), and dependence on Me to take the burden for you.  I want to carry it for you.  It is My delight to see you trust Me to do this for you.  It is not a burden to Me—it is a gift to Me when you give Me your burdens.  Your trust in Me delights Me.  This increases My songs over you, as your joy in Me causes overflow from you to others of the limitless oceans of love that will pass through this channel of trust, dependence, leaning entirely on Me, My love filling fully and flowing out.  It’s a GREAT EXCHANGE!

I heard this reference:  Romans 15:13, “May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing through the experience of your faith that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.”

Oh, Jesus is saying, “You feel that is your pain, you caused it, it’s your responsibility to carry it, and you’ve strapped it like a cross to your back.  You are resigned to carry it.  I say to you, I died to carry that cross for you. Oh, it gives Me joy to carry it for you, dear one.  When you trust Me, when you trust My willingness to be your burden bearer, and then entrust Me with your burden, you will sense freedom.  We shall walk arm in arm, laughing and loving because your burden is not burdensome for Me.  And now you can joy in My love for you and feel the freedom of those weights that kept you from My joy!”
